The ACPE accreditation for this version of the Florida Pharmacists Immunization Course has expired, effective October 15, 2015. The course is being updated at this time and will be submitted to ACPE for accreditation as soon as the revisions are completed. In the meantime, you may complete the current version of the course, which will allow you to meet the statutory requirements of Section 465.009 (6) (a) F.S. needed for re-licensure or re-certification as an immunizing pharmacists in Florida. In addition, the 3-hour continuing education course credit will be reported to CE Broker after completion. If you desire to receive the ACPE credit you will be allowed to take the updated revised version of the course at no charge once the ACPE accreditation is awarded.
Each immunizing pharmacist in Florida must complete a unique three hour continuing education course on the safe and effective administration of vaccines and epinephrine as part of their biennial relicensure. The Florida Medical Association, which is a statewide professional association of physicians accredited education provider, offers this course for Florida Pharmacists to meet their continuing education requirements online.
Pharmacists are now authorized to administer not only flu, pneumococcal, shingles and meningococcal vaccines, but all immunizations or vaccines listed in the Adult Immunization Schedule as of February 1, 2015, by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In addition, Section 465.189 F.S. also grants pharmacists permission to administer emergency epinephrine autoinjection when medically necessary.
